I've been reading so much buzz about Maybelline's new Superstay Better Skin Concealer since it's hit stateside. Images of both the foundation and concealer have been appearing all over my Twitter feed.
Better Skin Concealer comes in five shades and is Maybelline's 1st vitamin enriched long wearing concealer with acetyl-C, known for its antioxidant benefits.
I picked up light/medium as it was the one that best fit my NC40 complexion especially for hiding marks and sleep deprivation. This morning, I reached for this concealer to disguise a 2 am dash to the hospital.
The texture of the concealer is a little thick, smooth and creamy, and sets to medium to full coverage that wears for about 8 hrs (in NYC humidity). It's not as lightweight and fluid as Fit Me or Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Concealer + Treatment. So it's more suited for more demanding conceal jobs.
The doe foot applicator made it super easy to precisely apply where needed and control how much to dab on.
Better Skin blended really well and was seamless with my skin, which was totally unexpected. From personal experience, long-wearing makeup tends to feel heavy on my skin and requires a bit more effort to blend to achieve a skin-like texture.
After applying, I didn't really need much more than strategically placed bronzer and a few lashings of mascara.
At the end of the day, my skin still looked great and fairly even in appearance. One thing I did notice and not expect is that I didn't really experience any shine or flakiness despite the concealer being oil-free and only wearing sunscreen. Bonus!
The concealer did a great job improving my complexion and lasted all day in warm humid conditions.
